Navy Shirt Refashion

I had this old navy shirt that I hardly wear. The style isn't the most flattering so it needed a makeover.
First, I cut off both sleeves and hemmed the edges. Then I removed the elastic from the bottom seam.
Next, I took the elastic that was in the bottom seam and sewed it to the underside of the back of the shirt. I stretched the elastic while I sewed so that it created a gather.

Here is the finished shirt:

And.......its great for the beach!

More Cardigan Love

Here is another cardigan that I have been working on. My inspiration was this sweater from Forever 21.I picked up this sweater at Goodwill.I know. It looks terrible with the blue shirt I am wearing, but it has potential. I promise.

First I snipped off the threads that were keeping the belt in place. I wanted to use the belt to create the two stripes on the sleeve so I tried bleaching it and redying it, but it didn't turn out so well. I ended up using white fabric I had lying around.

After trying to sew the fabric to the sleeves using the sewing machine, I found I had to hand sew them. (The sweater fabric is way to stretchy and you end up with a wavy stripes instead of a straight ones.)

Then I just picked up an appliqué at a fabric store and ironed it on. Super easy.

Here is my finished product. I love it and can't wait for winter so I can wear it!

After thinking it over, I decided to add some different buttons so here is the true finished product.

Black Tank

I got this black tank at Target for $3.50!

Its a bit boring though. So I took some scrap fabric that I had and made 3 rosettes and sewed them on one corner.
Now I have a sweet tank for under $4 bucks!

I Love Cardigans

I am kind of on a cardigan kick lately. This is just one cardigan that I tweaked a bit, but I have so many other ideas that I want to try. With this sweater, all I did was change out the buttons and make a lace flower to pin on one side. The great thing is that if the flower doesn't match or the sweater needs to be washed, all you have to do is unpin it!

It's great for casual...

Or dressy.
