Felt Obsession

I haven't posted in a while but hopefully this long post will make up for it! Within the last 8 months, I have discovered and absolutely fallen in love with felt. It all started when I picked up this book from Barnes and Noble. It had so many cute ideas for felt toys and it includes all the patterns. Most of my felt creations have come from this book, but some of the others have come from free tutorials, a simplicity sewing pattern, and my own head. If I see something on Etsy that I like and if it is simple enough, I will just make my own pattern by looking at it. So here is what I've been up to the past couple months.

 I made these doughnuts from a tutorial I found on this site. I just adjusted the colors and toppings to make different varieties. I got my inspiration for the chocolate doughnut from this Etsy store. I also saw the jelly filled doughnut here and used the same size circle as the other doughnuts, but I omitted the hole and cut a "bite" in the side. :)

A felt kitchen isn't complete without a few potted plants. I got these from the book My Big Little Felt Universe.

Got to have a little bit of junk food in there too. These are also from My Big Little Felt Universe.

I followed a tutorial for the bacon and eggs. The bacon have pipe cleaners in the middle to give them their wavy shape.

I think that introducing kids to culturally diverse food is important and through play is a great way to do it! The take-out box, sushi, and fortune cookies all came from free tutorials.

All of these veggies came from My Big Little Felt Universe except for the corn on the cob. For that, I followed this free tutorial.

The majority of these fruits came from My Big Little Felt Universe. The watermelon and banana stick together with magnets and the apple, pear, and kiwi stick together with velcro. I found a free tutorial for strawberries and the orange slices came from a Simplicity pattern that I bought.

The carton of eggs came from that same Simplicity pattern, but I made my own cheese patterns after finding my inspiration here.

And finally, the ice cream sundae and s'more came from My Big Little Felt Universe, and the tea bags came from this tutorial. They are filled with black rice so it looks like there is tea inside. :)

I have lots more felt items to make but this is the start. More to come.

Wedding Flowers

This summer I sewed over 100 fabric flowers for a friend's wedding in January. I created most of them using this tutorial, but some of them I just gathered and stitched. To keep them from fraying, I burned the edges. Here are some pics from the beginning to the end result. Enjoy.
